Uozu’s event in Florence on March 22th was welcomed with great interest from the participants, professionals and enthusiasts from the fields of architecture, lighting, and design. The actual number of people on the day reached 200. In the wonderful baroque-style main hall of the Zeffirelli Museum. We had the chance to listen to excellent speeches about topics ranging from literature to lighting design in cinema. The paradise of Dante's Divine Comedy was also represented on the vaulted ceilings of the church, a wonderful work of art.
The event officially began at 16:30: Antonio Russo (CEO), Laura Andreini (brand’s art director) guest speakers Riccardo Brusagli, Luca Molinari and Daniele Nannuzzi sat side by side in the majestic palace. The hall was filled with a holy and solemn atmosphere.
Laura Andreini was the host of the event and was the one to introduce the theme and speakers. Then Antonio Russo introduced UOZU's brand positioning, product positioning, design concepts, and business plans. Antonio highlighted the 2018 Uozu's new product design through a PPT, as well as some application ideas and examples.
Uozu introduced 9 series to the market with more than 100 product items, including families of outdoor, decorative, indoor task lighting and general lighting. The product design concepts and technologies are mostly modularized, user-friendly, with a great easiness of application and catering perfectly to the designers’ individual needs. Through the product launch, Uozu clearly stated the brand's new positioning in the market, in architectural as well as decorative lighting, and the ideas for the future development. The presentation of these design concepts was widely appreciated by the participants.
Professor Emeritus Riccardo Brusagli, from the University of Florence, introduced the theme of the event through a lecture displaying an impressive cultural background and an excellent knowledge of Dante's Divine Comedy. Brusagli's lecture introduced the concept of space in the Divine Comedy: the amazing details of the descriptions, the size of this imaginary space, and the poetic characteristics of the whole work of literature from the very first sentence 'Nel mezzo del cammin di nostra vita, mi ritrovai in una selva oscura, che' la dritta via era smarrita' (In the middle of the path of life, I found myself in a dark wood, having lost the right way).
The speech of Luca Molinari, critic and curator, was focused on the exhibition that he's curated, 'Italian Architecture for the Divine Comedy', a collection of drawings of artists, architects and writers depicting their idea of this imaginary space created by Dante. The guests got the opportunity to see a selection of works from the exhibition, displaying a wonderful creativity and employing a variety of different art techniques.
The last speech was Daniele Nannuzzi. Nannuzzi is a famous and talented artist, who succeeded in employing light as a fundamental element giving life and poeticity to productions of cinema and theatre. He explored the history of art as figurative representation and how the effect of light has been employed in the works of artists, up until the advent of cinema which broke down all boundaries and made the effective use of lighting something essential in the beauty of a film still.
